The Archivist

The Archivist This is a drama that uses visual imagery to tell the life story of The Archivist. It is 1983. He sits in his small, claustrophobic archive where he reads, is silent, is dreaming. This loneliness, which clouds his vision like a shroud in front of the eyes, is increasing, and gradually it diminishes all of his senses. What is left is emptiness, nothing, only a soulless, perfectly preserved body. Escape. He is running through space and time with no consequences but he is gradually becoming a marionette of his own stories. And this moves his voyeuristic position inevitably into the centre of this happening. Again he is forced to escape, but this time he has unknowingly taken something with him, an immeasurable piece of conscience - a burden. He becomes increasingly consumed by his search for limits in the vast framework of his subconscious. Quickly switching between his various realities and...

Deleted Scene

Deleted Scene Echoing the most recent film project The Archivist, which sees an afflicted lonely figure become consumed by his own obsessions, Deleted Scene represents an unrealised stage-set. The film's central persona enters into a series of ontological confusions - a tenet reflected in this new installation. This teasingly recognisable environment works to question the roles of prop and sculpture, set and scene, and in turn interrogates the tools which we use to separate fantasy from fiction and on-screen life from material being....

DIII / V.060306.220306LCD1 / 2SEQ What happens when I'm not awake? A night vision CCTV camera helped to explore this and the results were quite disillusioning; a series of 7 days worth of footage, 6 hours on each DVD, filmed over a period of 5 weeks time was what I ended up with. This work features 2 nights out of the 7, both players are incorporated in a structure which are supposed to suggest the power of the sleeping mind and its un-problematic position in the subconscious reality. The idea was to depict a fraction of a time line on which we all move forward on and take a record of every footprint that leaves a mark. This work is based on the notion of 'lucid dreaming' and shows the character asleep in a bed and in the course of 9 photographs slowly parting from its body and back again. In order to...

There Back

there#back "The story evolves around two identical but different individuals on a cross path which has trapped them between two non-places. On this journey they will encounter transformations in which the world they created around themselves will begin to crumble at the point of close encounter." The film is a ficitonal approach into voyeurism of the 'self' in times of constant surveillance and its character-shifting paranoia. The work demonstrates characteristics of the sci-fi and horror genres, though the intention is not to create a 'Slasher' film which is supposed to generate fear and paranoia as an end in itself (Horror without Horror); I'm merely looking at the idea of what sort of trickery has been used to generate this fear. I'm referring to elements from the genres which provide a stylistic palette from which to borrow a pre-existing flavour from pop culture - subconsciously altering the viewer's perception of what they see for...
